BROAD STREET

This used to be a large open space called Horsemonger Street. It lay just outside the north walls and the town ditch. Cranmer, Ridley and Latimer were burned in this ditch, which was dry. The spot is marked by a cross in the middle of the narrower part of the road opposite Balliol College. (From Goulder, Pilgrimage Pamphlets: Oxford & Cambridge, 1963)
